UFC 194: Conor McGregor knocks out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds
Aldo (25-2) actually finished his punch and hit McGregor with a left, but the champ fell senseless to the ground and McGregor pounced, only to be pulled off in victory. He reiterated that he wants a rematch and that it is his right.
The two fighters were previously supposed to meet at UFC 189, however Aldo was forced to withdraw due to an injury weeks before the fight and Chad Mendes took his place.
Not everyone seems to think a rematch is likely to happen any time soon, including Michael Johnson.
Now, McGregor has finally realized a dream and ended up as the reigning UFC featherweight champion.
The Conor McGregor knockout video had many UFC fighters expressing their shock on social media. “I would have preferred if it stretched out just a little bit longer for all that it has been through but I still feel the same process would have happened”, McGregor explained. “There’ll be a belt on one shoulder and a belt on the other shoulder”.
The colorful, trash-talking McGregor, who taunted Aldo for months and predicted he’d walk through everyone in the division, proved to be a man of his word.
Conor McGregor went on to defeat Jose Aldo in thirteen seconds with a knockout punch.
McGregor’s next fight will be a title bout at either featherweight or lightweight.
“It wasn’t this time, but for sure we will come out winners”.
Just the same, McGregor somehow gave merit to Aldo but not without a mild potshot, of course. I stay active. I’m fresh. It was no contest on Saturday, as McGregor was too fast and too precise for Aldo.
“Precision beats power, and timing beats speed”, McGregor said.
“I’ll tell you one thing that isn’t happening: If I go up to that lightweight division, there’s no way in hell that I’m vacating my belt”, he said during his post-UFC 194 press conference. Maybe that and then July’s UFC 200, maybe defend the featherweight belt against Frankie on that card.
“I didn’t say it was going to be my last one, but I would like to go up and fight for that 155-pound belt and replicate what I’ve done in the previous promotion.” he said.
