UFC 194: McGregor knocks out Aldo
McGregor and Jose Aldo finally faced off inside the Octagon and for those who were rooting for Aldo to use his experience against the Irishman, it was the precision and timing of The Notorious that made the difference. Held both belts consecutively.
Aldo was on hand to witness McGregor’s destruction of Siver.
McGregor shocked the world after he knocked out Brazilian Jose Aldo with pretty much one punch at UFC 194, something no one, including McGregor, saw coming.
It represented the completion of a remarkable rise to fame for McGregor who only debuted in the UFC two years ago – Aldo, meanwhile, had been the champion for six years and hadn’t lost in a decade. “I say what I do now”, McGregor said.
“I’ll tell you one thing that won’t be happening”, he said. It’s been a insane year for me.
So then let’s presume McGregor fights in the featherweight division again one way or another. If we assume that the fight had AT LEAST 500,000 buys, then each fighter receives $1,500,000 on top of their fee.
“I think I am the pound-for-pound No. 1”.
UFC 194 is in the books and it lived up to the hype as one of the most anticipated cards of the year. “I wanted to embrace every bit of it. Sometimes, it’s over before you even know it”.
McGregor’s next fight will be a title bout at either featherweight or lightweight.
McGregor lands a punch against Aldo.
The fight was over in UFC title fight record time, beating the 14-second mark set by Ronda Rousey, and took McGregor’s record to 19-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC as he continues to climb the pound-for-pound rankings.
“I think that we need the rematch, it was really not a fight so we need to get back in here.”
“I never fall for provocations, I stay with a clear head (calm mind) in there, man. I have to get in there and do my job”.
Undisputed featherweight champion Conor McGregor is open to a rematch with Jose Aldo despite ambitions to move up to lightweight.
“There’s options; and I make the decision on this”. After what was admittedly a nasty weight cut, McGregor mentioned that he has aspirations of moving to 155 pounds for a shot at the lightweight title.
In the co-main event, Luke Rockhold handed Chris Weidman his first defeat with a fourth-round stoppage to claim the UFC middleweight title.
