UFC 202, Diaz vs. McGregor 2: 10 reasons to watch
“Like I said, that guy [McGregor] walks in like he was the show”, Diaz said of McGregor.
The fight itself is late in coming.
Conor McGregor told a reporter, after the press conference row, that the exchange was just handbags and that he hoped it wouldn’t distract from Saturday’s fight.
But, in true Diaz fashion, he is looking to ruin the UFC’s plans to push him aside.
McGregor is the UFC Featherweight Champion. In UFC 196, Diaz submitted Conor McGregor in the second round itself, which made Diaz one of the most exciting mixed martial arts fighters in the world.
With that being said, it’s no surprise that McGregor has been working diligently on his jiu-jitsu and his conditioning ahead of his highly-anticipated rematch with Diaz set for this Saturday’s (August 20, 2016) UFC 202 from Las Vegas, Nevada. White quickly replied, “He’s on his way”. Things went downhill from there as McGregor launched multiple bottles and energy drinks toward Diaz and his team.
McGregor explained after joking about the incident that he just was defending himself. From the video footage, it looks like older brother Nick egged Nate on in an effort to steal the show from McGregor. I won’t go on in too much detail because we all know what happened next, but the question I’ve been asking myself is: if Conor can win the first three rounds, surely he can hold on for the last two if his cardio begins to slow down?
Whether you believe the press conference bust-up was staged or you think McGregor is playing mind games with Diaz, one thing is for sure: Saturday is going to be a war and the Irishman’s legacy will be seriously stained if he can not exact revenge on his American foe.
