UFC 206: Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis

Holloway (17-3) claimed UFC’s interim featherweight championship Saturday by defeating former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis via TKO in the third round.

With the UFC running short of available title fights, which is usually a staple of most of its pay-per-view events, UFC officials appear to be pushing for Aldo to face Max Holloway at UFC 208 on February 11 in Brooklyn. Holloway said UFC Preisdent Dana White already offered him the fight following his win over Pettis.

Max Holloway touched UFC gold for the first time in his young career when he outgunned Anthony Pettis in the main event of UFC 206 and he knows exactly who he wants next and where he wants it to go down.

Holloway, meanwhile, is one of the game’s hottest fighters having rattled off 10 straight victories, seven of which were finishes. “He wants to retire”. Now he’s a f*cking matchmaker. After McGregor chose to fight Eddie Alvarez instead of Aldo, the Brazilian went public and stated he planned to leave MMA.

That opportunity dissolved for Pettis on the Friday before the fight when his weight cut went awry, leaving him too heavy to make the required 145-pound limit. Holloway earned that shot with the win over Pettis and it could come as early as February.

The burgeoning mega star now has the fifth-best win streak in UFC history.

“I’m still at the point where I can improve”, Aubin-Mercier said. “I’m only 25. I’m learning, man”. “He wants me to be all drained out from two training camps in a row but that (expletive) ain’t going to happen”.

For Aldo, we just don’t have enough to go on.

During the fight, Holloway picked his shots, finding his range in the first two rounds before he found timing on his right hand and opened up a cut over Pettis’ right eye.

“I already knew that Conor would not fight anymore in my division”. I will fight that day, against him or anybody else.
