UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway Results
Aldo hadn’t lost in more than a decade and was the only featherweight champion in UFC history before he was knocked out in 13 seconds by Conor McGregor in December 2015.
He added: ” I want to do super fights.
“I’ve said it since Conor fought him: apart from Conor, Max Holloway is the second-best guy at 145 [pounds]”, Kavanagh told The42 ahead of Saturday night’s fight.
His most recent outing, against Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, saw Holloway stop the former UFC lightweight champion to capture the interim featherweight title.
This weekend, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will look to unify the UFC featherweight championship and the interim featherweight championship, which is now being held by Max Holloway.
For roughly a decade, Jose Aldo has been one of the pound-for-pound best fighters on the planet, but we it’s undeniable that he looked like a different fighter in his last bout against Frankie Edgar. Brook took a knee at 1:31 of the 11th, which just happened to be one second after the round prop made the fight go over. We’re fighting, guys. What are you talking about? All the time, he’s helping people. And if Conor wants to fight, he wants to fight. If this is Aldo scoring wee pops at McGregor, it’s very, very sneakily done.
Another mention of marquee fights coupled with a statement of intent to continue to defend his belt, something which McGregor has never done in his professional debut.
Aldo knows he’ll have to live with it, and the only way to make the situation palatable is to resume his domination of the division.
UFC heads back to a hotbed of MMA fans as UFC 212 takes place Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Aldo said. “He had one fight at featherweight, that’s it”. It’s close to my gym. This is what I have in mind – fighting more often. Yet he realizes the danger posed by Holloway, the Hawaii-born contender who stands 4 inches taller and presents confounding challenges.
However, as mentioned, Holloway is a great striker himself. “I’ve been watching him forever-since I was 17-and I’m 15 now”. I’m 25 and he’s still at the top of the division.

Holloway also presents some outstanding credentials.
It has been a long and winding road for Holloway to get to this point. “I don’t care. I want an undisputed career”. I want the best Aldo so I can dominate him and there will be no excuses going forward.
However, with controversial sagas and pullouts frequently surrounding UFC events these days, the official weigh-ins this morning were far from a formality.
In the co-main event, strawweights Claudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz throw down in a battle that could see the victor challenge the only women that has beaten then both – Joanna Jedrzejczyk – again in the near future.
