UFC: Conor McGregor knocks out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds!

There was that world tour to promote UFC 189 in July when Aldo and McGregor originally were scheduled to fight until Aldo pulled out with a rib injury inside of two weeks of the bout. Conor McGregor knocked Jose Aldo out – ending his 10-year unbeaten streak – with the first punch he landed. “Junior” came forward with a right-left combination, but the southpaw, McGregor, countered beautifully with his patented missile of a straight left, flooring the incumbent champion. McGregor went out and knocked out Chad Mendes, ensuring the fight with Aldo would go on as planned. He finished Weidman via TKO stoppage in the fourth round, but each of them goes home with a $50,000 bonus.
“As it stands, McGregor still has a slight edge over his opponent at 8/11 to win – which gives him a 58 per cent chance of victory”. No speed, just timing.
In contrast, if McGregor can become the first man ever to beat the Brazilian at featherweight, he will have to make do with just the title belt and no win bonus. In the lead up to the event, we’ll be taking a closer look at the fighter’s strengths and weaknesses, and where this fight can be won and lost.

It was the fastest finish in UFC title fight history, surpassing the 14-second submission by former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey against Cat Zingano in February.
“He’s a phenomenal warrior and a phenomenal champion”, said McGregor. As he fell, Aldo’s left hook came through and grazed McGregor across the face.

Rockhold was surprised the fight wasn’t stopped during the onslaught in the third. Three events in three nights, more than 30 fights, all leading up to two title fights at UFC 194. If Aldo is able to land some kicks early, it should allow him to control the fight. Other fights on the card include Ronaldo Souza vs Yoel Romero in the middleweight division, Demian Maia vs Gunnar Nelson in welterweight, and Max Holloway vs Jeremy Stephens in featherweight.
