UFC on Fox 17 Recap ” dos Anjos Stops Cerrone in 66 Seconds”
That’s what perennial lightweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone says happened to him at UFC on FOX 17 on December 19 when he faced champion Rafael dos Anjos for a second time.
After the fight, dos Anjos delivered a message to featherweight champion Conor McGregor, who said he plans to also fight in the lightweight division. “Notorious” had been talking about going to 155 after his first round knockout of Jose Aldo last weekend.
Nate Diaz found the winners circle for the first time in two years with a tactical three round unanimous 29-28 decision win over the red hot Michael Johnson.
With Conor McGregor eyeing a lightweight title fight, it is possible that the victor of Dos Anjos – Cerrone will fight Conor McGregor next in a super fight.
McGregor can certainly choose to stay at 145 pounds and defend the belt against either Frankie Edgar or in a rematch against Aldo.
Whilst the eventual decision on who McGregor takes on next is believed to be decided upon by the man himself, Nate Diaz was quick to claim yesterday following his win that the UFC brass had indicated to him that they would be interested in putting a McGregor vs Diaz fight together.
Should a McGregor-Dos Anjos super fight not eventuate, the latter has a couple of very intriguing match-ups on the Horizon. That is a huge problem for anybody fighting at 155 pounds. But, the belief has been that the UFC was looking more so at Donald Cerrone vs. McGregor, rather than a fight with dos Anjos. “You’d better stay at featherweight”, dos Anjos exclaimed. But if he wants to come I have to overcome him.
Dos Anjos credits legendary striking coach Rafael Cordeiro for his striking development.
Nurmagomedov (22-0) is on a six-fight win streak that includes victories over Gleison Tibau, Abel Trujillo, and Pat Healy. We don’t have a fight team we have a family. However, McGregor has made it clear that he will not move up to the lightweight division if he has to give up the featherweight title he won at UFC 194. Fighting against McGregor in the octagon is your big money meal ticket to recognition and a decent paycheck in this unforgiving sport, and doesn’t he know it.
“I can make you rich, I [can] change your bum life”.
“I want to fight you in Brazil, I will go to Ireland to face you there”, Dos Anjos said.
