UFC’s Ronda Rousey keeps promise at Myrtle Beach Marine Corps Ball
As we reported, one of Ronda Rousey’s biggest fans courageously asked the UFC champ to be his date to the Marine Corps Ball in SC. Now, with a new teaser out, it appears to be focusing its marketing efforts on Holm, even mentioning her victory over Rousey in the clip.
During the night of the event, Rousey shared, “It was the only smiling I’ve been doing, I think”. She made a promise to a Marine and was going to keep that promise.
“Honestly I probably would stay on my couch crying and eating ice cream for another month if he didn’t ask me so it was probably a good thing”.
Likely still reeling from her stunning upset at the hands of fellow Ultimate Fighting Championship standout Holly Holm in November, the UFC star kept her word to Lance Cpl. And now, she’ll have plenty of marines cheering her on when she takes on Holm after the Marine Corp Ball.
“Holly’s used to staying active”, Holm’s manager Lenny Fresquez told the LA Times.
According to UFC President Dana White, Rousey has been slated for an immediate rematch against Holm at UFC 200 which will take place on July 9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“She talks about the rematch and her next movie”, it added. Now, as best I can tell from the two different teaser trailers for the film, it is about a place where women fight.
Jarrod Haschert, 22, posted a video in August declaring the UFC fighter his “celebrity crush” and asking her to accompany him to his ball – an invitation which has now been viewed over five million times.
