UGA Names Interim Head Coach for Bowl Game

Richt left UGA after 15 seasons with the school.

Some projections have Georgia and Miami playing in a bowl game.

“All indicated that Kirby Smart will stay on with Alabama through the bowl game/playoff”, Savage told the SiriusXM listeners.

Georgia announced Thursday that assistant head coach Bryan McClendon will serve as interim head coach in the bowl game. “It’s not there. The recruit’s high school coach reassured Georgia fans yesterday, though the quarterback has yet to comment on his commitment.

Alabama plays Florida at 3 p.m. CT Saturday in the SEC Championship Game.

An Atlanta native, McClendon is the son of former Georgia and Chicago Bears running back Willie McClendon, the 1978 Southeastern Conference player of the year. He began his career as a graduate assistant (1985-88).
