Uncharted Collection Is A Legit PS4 System-Seller — Sony
It preserves our strong memories of the series – the set pieces, the writing, the scenery – without letting the dated stuff get in the way.
The Nathan Drake Collection does come at an interesting time.
Naughty Dog recently revamped their Uncharted series for the PS 4. Each of the three games included in the collection offers different themes that shows how Nathan Drake got the fame and glory he wanted. The models and textures are improved and weve added ambient occlusion and motion blur where such rendering features werent originally supported. Combined with anisotropic filtering, the image quality definitely comes across as sharper and more appealing than before.
Looks like it worked out well in the end!
Beside looking for the consideration of gamers, Naughty Dog uncovers that they are doing a few remastering in light of the fact that it’s what they need to do. I reviewed it last week and it is, in every sense, exactly what we want from a collection. Shadows are now properly cast on water surfaces with ripples and waves, and the wave effects themselves have been updated.
As for the multiplayer from Uncharted 2 & 3? But Among Thieves finds the folks at Naughty Dog realizing the lack of limits afforded by a completely digital canvas, and adjusting accordingly.
From Among Thieves’s first scene, a dizzying trick of perspective that slowly reveals a critically injured Nathan a hair away from falling off a cliffside while trapped inside a crashed train auto, playing through the latter two Uncharted games is a rollercoaster experience. “We could go back to Jak and Daxter 4 if it seems right, or there could be something else in the future on our horizon”.
Visual improvements include enhancements to lighting and shadows, materials, shaders, and visual effects. LOD is balanced pretty well and hence, there’s a low loss of details. Given the enormous power and easy accommodation of the PS4’s GPGPU, its removal is quite the surprise. Those changes don’t just make the games look better, but play better as well.
In 2011, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception released and was the equivalent of a finely aged wine in a prettier bottle. What makes a remaster worth the consumer’s time?
This is sharper and more detailed than the original PS3 game, especially in the characters and scenery.
