Under-pressure Van Gaal walks out of United news conference
Wayne Rooney has insisted that the Manchester United squad remain behind their manager Louis van Gaal.
Chelsea could have to pay Jose Mourinho while he manages English Premier League rivals Manchester United.
The madcap Manchester United boss’s press conference lasted just 4mins 58 seconds before he stormed out of the room.
Van Gaal was then asked what the media had to apologize for. Instead the former Russian worldwide believes United should wait until the end of the season before making a decision.
If Chelsea were to beat United and trigger van Gaal’s exit, it could trigger one of the great plot twists in EPL history.
“The fact he wants his team to play in positive way, I respect that highly”.
The possibility of Mourinho replacing Rafa Benitez at Real Madrid before the end of the season and Chelsea topping up the wages of the Portuguese at the Bernabeu would be more palatable.
“I think I was already sacked”, Van Gaal said sarcastically about media reports of his impending dismissal by the club.
“The titles he won, many titles”, said Hiddink.
On Van Gaal, he added: “They [United] are struggling as well, that’s for sure”.
United expected Van Gaal to qualify for the Champions League knockout phase as a bare minimum, as well as finishing in the top three of the Premier League.
Q: Arsene Wenger says it’s been disrespectful?
“I don’t think the American owners will sack him.
I do not want anyone to lose their job and my personal feelings on that front is that it is always sad when someone loses their job”. I have done everything this week.
“I want to say, only, that I have tried to lift the confidence of my players and have done everything this week – meetings, a Christmas lunch, a speech – and I feel the warmth and support of everybody in Carrington”.
But I didn’t feel that in the media and of course I can imagine that you can write about that subject. “We are not in a good position but four weeks ago we were first in the Premier League and in about four weeks we can again be back in that position”.
The former Bayern Munich manager said his family and friends had been adversely affected by the criticism and claimed he had been contacted by former manager Alex Ferguson, executive vice chairman Ed Woodward and director David Gill recently about the matter. Or with the fans of Manchester United?
