Ungrateful man complains of finding meth in In-N-Out Burger beverage
Via FoodWorldNews, a man named Fred Maldonado ordered a milkshake from an In-N-Out Burger in Downey, California on March 9, 2014. He took his food and drink back to his hotel room and ate it. The lawsuit claims that it wasn’t until the next morning that Maldonado found a napkin and two capsules in the bottom of the milkshake cup.
A lawsuit filed in Los Angeles alleges an In-N-Out Burger customer discovered his drink had been spiked with meth after the beverage made him sick.
But while some would have dropped to their knees and thanked the ice gods for their good fortune, this fellow was not amused and went back to have a word with the manager, who “apologized and offered Maldonado a certificate for a free burger” in addition to the free meth he’d already received.
A picture of the capsules and napkin allegedly found in the drink were provided by G. Patrick Connors III, an attorney for Maldonado. Later testing “determined the capsules contained methamphetamine”, and probably “illicitly manufactured” methamphetamine at that.
Maldonado did not ingest the pills, but did suffer nausea and serious injuries to his health, as well as mental distress, as a result of consuming the drink, according to his lawyer.
In-N-Out denies the charges and plans to address the matter in court.
“Customer safety is one of our highest priorities”, executive vice-president Arnie Wensinger told City News Service. The complaint seeks unspecified damages.
