United Airlines flight diverted to Indy after dropping 10000 feet
Mr Beem said ExpressJet officials were trying to determine whether the plane could be fixed so the flight could continue to Chicago.
Plunge: United Express Flight 5919 fell 10,000 feet Sunday morning, according to the Indianapolis Airport Authority, somewhere over Kentucky while en route to Chicago from Charlotte.
Airline spokesman Jarek Beem noted that it is standard procedure for planes to drop to a 10,000 foot altitude when there is a pressure issue on board.
The Federal Aviation Administration says a United Airlines flight was diverted to Indianapolis because of a pressurization problem.
A spokesman for ExpressJet, the operators of United Express, said they are looking into what happened.
The incident took place less than two days after a Salt Lake City-bound flight from Boston flew into a storm and was forced to make an emergency landing in Denver. “We are working to accommodate our customers after the flight safely landed in Indianapolis due to a mechanical issue”.
The passengers were assessed at Indianapolis airport.
