United Airlines flight diverted to Vancouver, Canada, on security concern, passenger arrested
A United Airlines flight bound for Denver was diverted to Vancouver early Saturday morning after a threatening message was received. But “the crew elected” to cut the journey short after finding the message, United spokesman Charlie Hobart said.
A “security concern” caused the flight crew to divert the plane, according to United Airlines spokesman Charles Hobart.
It’s not known what the message said.
United Airlines flight 1104 departed Anchorage a little before midnight, and was set to land in Denver shortly after 6 a.m., local time.
The plane landed at Vancouver International Airport, and authorities have “a suspect in custody”, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police office in Richmond, British Columbia, said on Twitter.
The passenger said the person had seemed unstable and had been frequently getting up from his seat throughout the flight. The airline says it is working to rebook passengers on an alternate flight.
