United and PSG in £46m Di Maria deal
Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have now made an official £45m offer to sign Manchester United winger Angel di Maria, according to claims by talkSPORT.
“I expect Di Maria tomorrow, because we have communicated that and they have responded on that”, he told reporters.
“I can not answer that”, said the Dutchman.
However, PSG believe that a deal can be done to persuade United to sell the 27-year-old, who has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
Di Maria and his family were also left distraught after an attempted break-in at their Cheshire home in January, while they were in the property.
Van Gaal refused to dismiss reports United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward met with PSG officials to discuss Di Maria’s future on Tuesday.
United won their two previous matches against Mexican side Club America and San Jose Earthquakes.
United are willing to play hardball with Madrid over De Gea. Chelsea and Liverpool have been previously linked with the striker who would doubtlessly desire to play for a bigger team and yet they were unwilling to accept a deal worth £15 million.
Much like the David De Gea situation, it shows that Manchester United are keen on keeping him at the club and integrating him into the squad for the new season.
“Our aim this season is not to win the Champions League but to be close”. To counter that, though, he was joining a club and a manager, in Louis van Gaal, with shared histories of fighting for football’s major prizes.
“Last week we scored goals without (Alexis) Sanchez and (Danny) Welbeck”.
