United defends decision to bar girls in leggings from flight
Although United did specify Sunday on Twitter the girls were “pass riders”, it initially didn’t say they needed to adhere to a different dress code than other passengers.

Another tweeted: The only place @united’s Contract of Carriage mentions clothing is regarding safety.
The dress code bars pass travelers from wearing spandex or Lycra trousers such as leggings.
As a result of the incident, the two girls, along with a third passenger who was traveling with them, missed their flight.
Arquette wrote in a series of tweets, “Why aren’t you allowing girls to wear leggings on flights?”
“Our regular passengers will not be denied boarding because they are wearing leggings or yoga trousers”, a Washington Post spokeswoman said.
“I’d like (United) to understand that leggings are part of a woman’s attire in modern day America”.
United’s attempt to defend its decision drew further criticism with A-listers taking to social media to say the airline needed to change its “sexist” dress code. Gate agent for (flight) 215 at 7:55.

Countless people on Twitter were shocked by the agents’ actions and United Airline’s response to the matter.

As Watts’ following tweet explains, the agent told the girls they would have to change their clothes in order to fly.
United released a statement on Sunday, saying that pass travelers ― travelers who are dependents or relatives of a United employee ― must adhere to the dress code. I guess @united not letting women wear athletic wear?
Celebrities also had their say on the matter, with model Christine Teigen tweeting: I have flown United before with literally no trousers on.
