United Kingdom gov’t to invest almost £1bn in mental health services

Nearly £1bn is being invested in mental health services in England over the next five years as part of a new strategy, prime minister David Cameron announced on 11 January 2016.
“If untreated, these perinatal mental illnesses can have a devastating impact on the women affected and their families”.
People experiencing psychosis will experience improved waiting times as the Government will introduce a new standard timeframe for care.

David Cameron must be clear, is this all additional to the £1.25 billion announced in the Budget in March for children and young people’s mental health – which the Liberal Democrats secured?
Another £247 million will be spent to make sure every hospital emergency department has a mental health service, Mr Cameron will announce.
