United Kingdom police investigate train station knife attack
British MPs approved the bombing of Islamic State targets in Syria on Wednesday. One 56-year-old man suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was being held after a man wielding a large knife apparently shouted “this is for Syria” before attacking members of the public near the ticket barriers on Saturday evening. He refused to comment on whether the reports about the suspect shouting the words “This is for Syria” before the attack were accurate.
The video depicts a tense scene as officers surround the man, dressed in khaki trousers and a gray shirt, and demand that he surrender.
One man shouts: “You ain’t no Muslim, bruv! You ain’t no Muslim!”
Waltham Forest detective superintendent Jacqueline Sebire thanked police for their quick response, noting that the incident highlighted the kind of risks faced by officers daily.
Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism command said on Sunday that it had opened an investigation into the incident. British authorities have warned citizens to remain on high alert for terror attacks.

Salim Patel, 59, who runs the station shop and saw the attack unfold, said he heard shouts and saw the attacker beat up his victim, leaving him unconscious on the station floor, before walking back pulling out a knife and stabbing him in a sawing motion.
