United Nations decries Palestinian attacks, ‘excessive’ Israeli response
In the most recent serious incident, on Monday a Palestinian driver rammed a bus stop at the entrance to Jerusalem, injuring a dozen people including an 18-month-old child.
Since mid-September, Palestinians have killed 21 Israelis, while Israelis have killed 117 Palestinians, 76 of them said by Israel to be attackers.
Since Oct. 1, Israeli forces have killed 112 Palestinians, 67 of whom Israel says were assailants or had been caught on camera carrying out assaults.
Since the start of October, Israeli forces have detained at least 2,044 Palestinians, 345 of which have been children, according to documentation by human rights group Addameer.
Clashes also took place between the Israeli soldiers and local youths, who hurled stones and empty bottles at them, while the Israeli soldiers invaded and ransacked many homes, and kidnapped Mahmoud Nayef Abu Lateefa, 26, after repeatedly beating him.
She also voiced deep concern over reports of excessive use of force by Israeli forces and added that all instances of the use of force resulting in death or injury by law enforcement officers should be the subject of prompt, independent and impartial investigations.

Quartet representatives met with senior Israeli officials to discuss “ending the violence, restoring security and ending incitement” as well as “future channels” for the peace process, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
