Universal Orlando announces new Fast & Furious ride

The announcement, which was leaked yesterday, confirms the ride is coming to Universal Studios Florida and will replace Disaster: A Major Motion picture Starring You! and the Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue attractions.

Well, now it’s official: Universal Orlando will open Fast & Furious: Supercharged in 2017.

Furious 7 shattered box office records this summer and now ranks as the fifth highest grossing movie of all time, but the Fast & Furious franchise isn’t going to stop there. And Universal Studios Hollywood debuted a ride tied to the franchise in June. “Then, guests will board specially designed vehicles and take off on an adrenaline-pumping ride with their favorite stars from the films”, a press release said. Both versions of the ride offered a similar experience to what guests see on the Hollywood tram tour, with a big quake disaster hitting while you are in the subway of a major city.

The attraction will open in 2017, which will be a massive year for Universal Orlando.

“Fast & Furious: Supercharged” will be a stand-alone attraction in the Florida location and have its own original storyline that incorporates the cars from the films, reported Entertainment Weekly. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley debuted at the park in 2014. Skull Island: Reign of Kong is under construction at Islands of Adventure and scheduled to open next year.
