University double-murder suspect found dead
A detective played the 911 recording for reporters on Tuesday.
In the call, Lamb, who refused to give his name, said: “I shot my wife last night”. “He’s a sweet dog”.
The Biloxi Sun Herald reported that the woman lived with Lamb.
Bingham said Tuesday that authorities had some indication Lamb and Schmidt did not get along at work. A love triangle is believed to be what pushed Lamb to instigate the shooting.
“We have nothing to support that”.
“Thanks to all law enforcement, faculty and staff who put safety of our students first today”, the school tweeted after the threat has passed.
Who was Ethan Schmidt, victim of deadly Delta State University shooting? Some people hid in a storage closet, King said.
“It was supposedly that he was bitten by a spider or something”, Bingham confirmed.
The Clarion Ledger in Jackson is reporting that a professor is dead and an active shooter is allegedly loose on the Delta State campus near Jobe Hall. “Take care of her”, he said. He admits killing Prentiss and refers police to a Santa Cruz address.
Shannon Lamb did not indicate a motive for yesterday’s killing of Amy Prentiss, 41, nor did he suggest he planned to hurt anyone else.
Tommy Akers wrote, “Man, just turn yourself in bro!!”
A Delta State University student who attended a counseling session after a professor was slain on campus says he thinks some students may not return after the fatal shooting.
According to the New York Times, when Lamb was pulled over, he “was only about 35 miles to the west of the [Delta State] campus”. He was teaching two online courses during the autumn semester and did not want a full load, citing medical issues, university President William LaForge said. Hoggatt also said there does not appear to be a direct link between Prentiss and Schmidt.
They go on to report: “Dr. Lamb had become increasingly upset after a spider bite became infected and caused his face to swell, triggering a spate of mental health problems“.
Nicole Anslover, who studied in the history department at Kansas with Schmidt, said that he exuded “the enthusiasm he had for it and the subject he was writing about and trying to help people see those early conflicts with objectivity and fresh eyes”.
“He was really jittery, like there was something wrong with him”, Beavers said. “It was heartbreaking. He was definitely one of the lights here at Delta State”.
Mr Mitchell said police helicopters were in the air, and officers were sweeping buildings. “Plus, we are all texting and Facebooking each other to make sure we are safe”.
Schmidt had written several books and scholarly papers and had expertise in Native American history.
“I value the fact that inquiry for the sake of inquiry is honored in the profession”, he wrote.
