It was announced that as part of this battle, African-American members of the Tigers football team will be taking time off from football activities until something is done about all of this.
The statement from the athletes of color was tweeted out Saturday by several members of the football team, including starting running back Russell Hansbrough.
“Since Mr. Wolfe joined the UM system as president in 2012”, Butler tweeted, “there have been a slew of racist, sexist, homophobic, etc., incidents that have dynamically disrupted the learning experience for marginalized/underrepresented students at the University of Missouri”. He said he will continue to strike until Wolfe is removed from office.
The statement from the players included a photograph of 32 black men, including Butler. Although the letter did not specifically mention them, the department makes reference to the university’s controversial decision to revoke health insurance from its graduate students at the beginning of the school year as well as Loftin’s decision to cut university contracts with Planned Parenthood.
Wolfe said, “I regret my reaction at the MU homecoming parade when the ConcernedStudent1950 group approached my vehicle”. They have complained that the use of racial slurs is prevalent. In April, a swastika was found in a Missouri dormitory, and officials said last month they were investigating another act of vandalism that targeted minorities.
Mizzou’s athletic department released the following statement concerning its players. “Together we must rise to the challenge of combatting racism, injustice, and intolerance”.

Many on campus saw the latter as a caving to political pressure by legislators in Jefferson City, specifically efforts by Sen. Once the student was identified, he was removed from campus.
