Unprovoked Pak firing kills Indian soldier in JK’s Nowgam
A Pakistani military sniper killed an Indian army officer in the disputed border territory of Kashmir on Tuesday, according to the Indian military.
“The Pakistani Army used 60 mm mortars and automatics to target our positions in Balakote sector of Poonch district yesterday (Sunday)”, defence spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS. Meanwhile, soon after the firing incident the Indian troops have begun with the effective retaliation.
The JCO identified as Krishna Singh of 3 Kamao regiment of army was hit by a Pakistani sniper shot near the LoC in Lackmani post in Nowgam sector and later succumbed to injuries.
“Our troops retaliated in equal measures and a fierce gun battle ensued”, said the official adding that the firing was on at the time of filing this report.
Pertinently, there has been a considerable rise in ceasefire violation at the LoC by Pakistan in the recent past.
He said that when the terrorists were asked to surrender, they resorted to heavy firing.
