‘UnREAL’ Season 2 Finale Spoilers: Rachel Runs Away? Jeremy is Heartbroken
If you have not watched the mind-blowing season finale of UnREAL yet, grab a glass of wine and watch it ASAP! The big “Everlasting” wedding neared and major drama ensued. Competitive, noncompetitive: We want fights and bleeps and the chance to see people like ourselves on TV, only slightly more unhinged. In the second clip Rachel puts Faith on the spot during the filming of an interview segment. The show can poke at ideas about the performance of identity because its characters are truly performing identity in the context of Everlasting. Buckle up, guys. You’re about to find out.
Was UnREAL always headed towards such an unhappy season ending?
And what about Rachel’s love interests – Jeremy and Adam?
She gets a camera outside, on Anna. It is a popular dating show, much like “The Bachelor“. And so was Adam! (Sorry, but #Radam.).
Rachel pulls Adam towards a corner of the chapel, where the confessional booths are so they can talk privately. “It’s just another layer of Rachel’s brilliance in dealing with people-and that is the conversation starter”.
What about Quinn and Rachel together?
Right now, I’m sobbing. You do not f*** with someone who f***s with people for a living, Adam. “It’s ok. I’m just happy that some people are Team Jeremy”, he said. The tide soon shifted on Rachel’s face. It’s incredible. There’s a lot in the way between her and Adam. Ah, Quinn thought Rachel would be fine. It would be easy to write off “Everlasting” executive producer Quinn (Constance Zimmer) as mean and ruthless, but the show has given her layers. Brad tells Quinn that she has to fix this. (Maybe not for her…). There’s going to be a little cat-and-mouse going on between Rachel and Britney. She was a woman scorned after Adam destroyed their little fairytale.
NOXON: Actually, the finale was the hardest for us to kind of figure out. Of course, there’s also the option that Rachel really was sick and Quinn really did rescue her from making a mistake, but if Rachel’s “I love you” to Quinn told us anything, it’s that Rachel was in control now. Arielle Kebbel is such a gem. They triumphed in bringing down Everlasting, but why have them decide to stay on?
Grace tried one last-ditch effort to get Adam on her side. Adam was sorta-kinda convinced. Ugh, Adam fell for it. But it was all an act. Of course Rachel wouldn’t get her fairytale ending. “UnReal” offers something much more radical – a female anti-hero from the school of Tony Soprano and Walter White, repellent yet magnetic, a person of enormous but specific talents who is at her best when she is doing her worst. Jeremy was stirring up equal amounts of trouble. “There is no softness left in her at the end of this season”. They came up with one pretty decent idea where girls had to compete for a husband and a job – Everlasting: The Whole Package.
What’s in store for season two?
The gang was all in London, where they met Adam’s grandmother, who was a riot. She asks Anna why she did this. Of the contestants, only Anna has true feelings for Adam, and she is also left devastated at the end (due to an inspired literal use of a confessional booth).
Not only are the stars crossing their fingers for a female lead to take the romance throne Everlasting, they’re looking forward to another season of playing strong and driven women.
Suddenly, Jeremy went up to Rachel and preached that he’s always loved her. Is he going to propose? “I don’t think we are interested in a lot more twists from that”.
And hurray, Anna gets her on-camera comeback. “I’m gonna make sure you never hurt anybody like this again”. She mentioned the sex, running away together and became a complete mess. He says that he’s going to annul at the end of the year. But even that’s just one angle, a few parts of the story. Rachel’s got skills, though. Anna never showed. Rachel stepped up and skewered Adam. For “Breaking Bad” fans, it’s her lily of the valley moment: Why exactly are we rooting for her again? Quinn tells Chet she’ll let him produce the show so she won’t steal his thunder. Chet freezes up, while Brad is horrified. Quinn agreed to take over if she got his full support in the future. And calling her a boss instead of bossy. “After everything Quinn told me?”
What about that co-dependent bond between Rachel and Quinn?
Later, Quinn was ready to celebrate their victory. “Both Quinn and Rachel are on fire at the end of this season and we can’t wait to see what they do”, she added. Quinn says, “Like you haven’t made enough of those”.
Has some primal need to watch women tear each other apart miraculously abated?
Yes, I may have gotten caught up in the soapy love triangle and heated chemistry between Adam and Rachel, but when it comes down to it, the women rule on this show. Rachel said to Quinn.
Quinn says that love isn’t something you build a life around.
In the final scene, Jeremy shows up at Rachel’s mother’s house.
“That was one of my favorite scenes we shot all season”, Appleby told us. (They also commented on Chris Harrison’s criticisms of the drama here.).
