Unseen Amy Winehouse footage featured in BBC documentary ‘In Her Own Words’
Amy is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now.
A new documentary produced by the BBC looking at the life and career of the late Amy Winehouse has been made available on the channel’s Iplayer service.
Directed by Asif Kapadia it includes more than 100 interviews with 80 people, including friends, family and colleagues, although Amy’s father Mitch has recently stated he is considering legal action as he feels he is portrayed as an absent father.
Previously unseen footage of Amy Winehouse features in a new documentary and it gives a heartbreaking glimpse into how talented she truly was.
Winehouse died in July 2011 from alcohol poisoning, Amy was just 27-years-old.
She is seen discussing her musical influences, her aspirations and the intensely personal nature of her lyrics.
“In Her Own Words” also features a number of unseen interviews with the singer, many which were recorded as part of other BBC for documentary projects including the “Jazz and Soul Britannia” series on BBC Four.
“It’s good, because someone else might hear that and be like ‘I’m not an idiot for feeling them things.'”.
The film features Winehouse’s performances at Glastonbury in 2004 and 2008, as well as at the 2004 Mercury Music Prize ceremony and The Hootenanny in 2006.
Winehouse talks about her destructive relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil, the inspiration for “Back To Black“. Amy even says that at times she got so drunk that she had to be “carried home in a wheelbarrow”.
“Amy wrote smart, sad, soulful and original pop songs that became instant classics and inspired a generation”.
