Upcoming Fitness-Focused Samsung Wearable Detailed in Photos
With rumors indicating for months that Samsung has a fitness tracker in the works, many simply ignored them or just assumed that the device would look like previous offerings created by the company.
Samsung is reportedly gearing up to release a new wearable – a fitness tracker – that resembles the South Korean company’s Gear S2 smartwatch. “The whole design of the activity tracker is close [to] the Sport variant of the Gear S2”, says the publication.
One of the USPs of the Gear S2 smartwatch is its circular design and rotating bezel.
Speaking of features, the device will likely use Samsung’s new Bio-Processor – an all-in-one chip solution for fitness trackers announced back in December. It’s possible that Samsung is finally ready to acknowledge that another piece is necessary for better results – but why wouldn’t it be worn underneath the shirt if it’s a heart rate sensor?
“According to the images revealed by Tizen Cafe, The SM-R150 appears to be equipped with the same circular display and rotatable bezel that we’ve seen on the Gear S2”. It also seems a little too high and off to the side to be doing that.
Meanwhile the device also takes a note from Fitbit’s new Blaze with interchangeable bodies – in this case even allowing you to attach it to your chest. It will also be capable of counting repetitions and tracking data such as liquid intake. While all of this is very speculative, it probably won’t be long until we hear more, given Mobile World Congress is right around the corner.
