Update On Chandler Parsons Injury; Dirk Nowitzki Talks — Dallas Mavericks News
Though the Mavs will enter 2015-16 with an average roster, they might be a little more depleted than we thought.
Dallas will have a new starting center for the sixth straight season after the second departure of Tyson Chandler. Williams is battling a mild calf strain. Though he has struggled with injury for the past few seasons, the news came as a bit of a surprise.
Forward Chandler Parsons underwent a few sort of arthroscopic surgery on his right knee over the summer, but there was a few confusion as to whether or not the procedure was of the microfracture variety as the team only announced it as “arthroscopic surgery to address a cartilage injury in his right knee”. Parsons hasn’t been fully cleared yet, although he’s still hoping that he’ll be ready for the season opener on October 28.
“I came to Dallas because Dallas believed in me”, said Matthews, who won’t be ready for the start of the season after rupturing an Achilles tendon last March with Portland in a game against the Mavericks.
“We just got to, from a mentality standpoint, be tied together with five guys every defensive situation, ” he said. Thus, Rick Carlisle has made that the focal point as he starts his eighth season as the Mavs’ coach. On Sunday, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon confirmed that the surgery was indeed a “minor hybrid” microfracture operation. Though everything turned out all right, he is still a question mark for opening night. “I want to play two more years under contract here, hopefully at a high level, compete, hopefully be efficient when I’m out there”. Oft-injured JaVale McGee could be another option.
“They weren’t anxious about this injury”. Also, Salah Mejri from Real Madrid is another interesting Mavs signing that could get a few court time early on. You go for players and don’t get them.
During last year’s 50-32 season, the Mavs’ defense let them down more times than not.
