Uproxx: Megyn Kelly And Kevin Spacey Will Collaborate On ‘The Resident
To pair her with Kevin Spacey, who has been bringing his own breathtakingly corrupt president to life on House of Cards, makes me wonder if Kelly is secretly fulfilling a dream of hers.
The project is part of a first-look deal between Trigger Street (the name of Spacey and Brunetti’s company) and the two Fox entities.
Megyn Kelly and Kevin Spacey have their eyes set on the White House. The Hollywood Reporter describes it as a cross between Cards and Downton Abbey, and it’s headed for cable if it goes to series.
So for those of you keeping score, that’s three Spacey White House productions in the works. The ex- attorney presently works as a news pundit and political commentator for the Fox News Channel.
House of Cards has been a shining light for Netflix. “The stories about Kennedy, Reagan, Clinton, and Obama are irresistible”, wrote one critic.
Spacey and Brunetti are also co-executive producers of “House of Cards“. It is her first try at such a role.
The deal comes on the heels of the studios acquiring rights to the book “The Residence,” which will be a cable drama executive produced by the Trigger Street partners and Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. According to Variety.com, Fox 21 recently scored the rights to the book The Residence. “Trigger Street and Fox have the makings of a powerful team, and we look forward to our upcoming projects”. “Our past and current projects demonstrate how we do things differently and partner with who we feel are the best at what they do”.
With a feature resume that includes Captain Phillips and The Social Network, the new deal marks a big move into scripted television for Trigger Street.
