“I saw how terrible people can be to someone they don’t even know, which made me even more appreciative when I saw how wonderfully Ronda’s friends and family treated her”, she continued.

Rousey has not said much since the defeat against Holly Holm at UFC 193 ended her undefeated streak. “I finally got to get to know her this year. We celebrated Ronda’s February win over Cat Zingano in UFC 184, singing ‘Happy Birthday!” at a restaurant in Hollywood as she devoured platefuls of chicken wings. To tell her that I loved her just as much in the moments after the fight as I had in the moments before. It’s not a fight she’s actively seeking, but wouldn’t shy away from if it was an option.

Over the last few years, one of the biggest criticisms of the UFC has been that the increased number of events has created a situation where the “big fight” feel that accompanied major shows in the past had evaporated.
