US envoy questions Israel’s commitment to 2-state plan
U.S. criticism of Israeli actions in the West Bank have drawn a furious response from Israel this week, including a former official dismissing the United States ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro as a “little Jew boy”.
The Daily Mail, for example, alerts readers, “Two Israeli women stabbed in their own homes by Palestinian knifemen in 24 hours: Mother-of-six dies while pregnant victim survives in West Bank attacks”.
Her death brought the toll in the recent violence to 24 Israelis and 155 Palestinians killed since October 1.
Israel’s government has come under heavy pressure over the spate of attacks, and Sunday’s killing was likely to further raise tensions. Most of the world considers such settlements are illegal and an obstacle to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Palestinian attacks have killed 25 Israelis and an American student.
According to a report by the Times of Israel, the Tel Aviv regime is to confiscate 370 acres of agricultural land near the Palestinian city of Jericho in the West Bank over the coming weeks.
Mr Netanyahu rejected Mr Shapiro’s remarks as “unacceptable and incorrect”, adding in a text message: “Israel enforces the law for Israelis and Palestinians”.

“Settlement businesses unavoidably contribute to Israeli policies that dispossess and harshly discriminate against Palestinians, while profiting from Israel’s theft of Palestinian land and other resources”, Arvind Ganesan, director of business and human rights division in the organization, said in a statement accompanying the report.
‘Security measures alone can not stop the cycle of violence, ‘ ministers said, calling for ‘a fundamental change of policy by Israel with regard to the occupied Palestinian territory’. The Palestinian Authority is responsible for the freeze in the political process and continues to incite while refusing to negotiate. “Too much Israeli vigilantism in the West Bank goes on unchecked”, he said.
“It is the incitement campaign led by the Palestinian Authority and other elements such as the Islamic Movement and Hamas, and it is about time the global community stopped their hypocrisy and called things by their names”.
Israeli or Palestinian, it doesn’t matter who the perpetrators are. Israel says 101 of them have been attackers while the rest have been killed in clashes with Israeli troops.
Ministers reiterated the EU’s position that the lands Israel has occupied since the 1967 Middle East war – including the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights – are not part of the internationally recognised borders of Israel.
