He added that, at its peak, 50 million people were using Pokevision to find and catch Pokemon – around half the number of people who have downloaded Pokemon Go.
Pokemon Go developer Niantic Labs has responded to the alleged appearance of legendary Pokemon, including most prominently Articuno, in Trainers’ accounts, revealing that the company has removed these Pokemon from players’ accounts.
Pokemon GO players are furious at Niantic for tracking down third party applications which helped them to catch ’em all. While this sounds convenient on paper, the feature rarely worked in reality, and Niantic made a decision to remove it altogether with the latest update.
Furthermore, Niantic have limited the access to the third-party services that were interfering with the ability to maintain the quality of service for the game users.
“There are a range of motives here, from blatant commercial ventures to enthusiastic fans, but the negative impact on game resources is the same”, writes Hanke. This feature did not work the way Niantic intended it to, and did not meet their “underlying product goals”.
However, the statement didn’t offer much hope for players lamenting the loss of Pokevision and other Pokemon-tracking apps.
First, some good news: according to Niantic, the company has been putting tremendous time and effort into squashing bugs, fixing glitches and developing cool new features to further enhance Pokemon Go.
In a video posted on Reddit, you see a gym leader in the game has placed their Pokemon as the one to beat in order to take over the gym. Niantic have recently mentioned that they will be continuing to launch the game in other countries around the world.
