The inaugural Best Countries report report, assembled by U.S. News and World Report, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and BAV Consulting looked at factors including “sustainability, adventure, cultural influence, entrepreneurship and economic influence”, USA Today reports.
The ranking was based on surveys from 16,248 people from 36 countries in the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa.
Germany topped the list, followed by Canada, the United Kingdom, the U.S., and then Sweden.
It’s another ranking that shows Canada is pretty awesome.
The rankings acknowledge progressive politics adopted by Nordic nations, and offer a hat tip to Canada as the country with the “best quality of life” – which is a considerably better finish than its ranking on the
The project deemed Sweden to be the most modern country, the best country to raise children in, and the top nation for green living. In the end, Germany scored highest overall. Of those, more than 8,000 were “informed elites” (college-educated, middle or upper-class individuals). More than 4,500 were business leaders, defined as senior leaders in an organization or individuals who own small business that employ others. The rest were from the general public.
Civil rights, culture, economy, quality of life, power and influence, Germany performed well in all these categories and therefore comes out on top in the of the list. “But because of its population, it’s also one of the poorest countries in the world based on income and gross national product per capita”.
A large number of millennials rated Singapore highly (No 1) in heritage, namely cultural accessibility, rich history, good food and cultural attractions.
