US Powerball fever grips ticket buyers with prize at $1.4 billion

A $1 million winning Powerball ticket was sold at a Winn-Dixie grocery store in Tampa, the Florida Lottery announced on Twitter. Winners have the option of taking a lump sum of over $806 million after taxes or taking annual payments for 29 years. Those winning numbers were 16, 19, 32, 34, 57 and the Powerball number 13. No ticket matched all numbers.
The odds of winning the full Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to lottery officials.
There were a lot of Powerball ticket buyers who were disappointed today when they found out they – nor anyone else – had won Saturday’s $900 million prize.
In total, Kansas sales for the Powerball drawing were $ 6.7 million, which is about 25 times what is typical for a drawing.
The lottery jackpot has now reached more than $1 billion and everyone seems to be getting in on the action.
There were four other tickets sold across North Carolina that won $150,000 and three other tickets sold in the state that won $50,000.
