US Republican NH primary: Dark horse on Trump’s tail
The blunting of Rubio’s momentum out of Iowa clears the way for a Kasich surge in the run-up to the New Hampshire primary.
And Bush said he would consider a pre-emptive strike against North Korea.
Some of Kasich’s supporters are passionate about him.
Sanders’ campaign didn’t immediately return a request seeking comment.
Bush spoke and took questions from town hall participants for 90 minutes Saturday.
Some politicians run from polarizing endorsements.
“I’ve never been establishment, but I can work with the establishment”, Kasich said, pointing to his experience in balancing the budget and cutting taxes in Congress. “Everyone tries to put a label on me and they can’t figure it out”. He has compared those who cross the border illegally to drug mules and livestock.
Another candidate suggested finding out if “sand can glow in the dark”.
This campaign, he says, is different. Ted Cruz of Texas. For instance, registered Republicans could vote for a candidate on the Democratic ticket. “But it’s in the hands of the people of New Hampshire”.
When asked why Jeb has not caught fire, Shays said, “Because, in my judgment, he has been so conditioned to be politically correct”.
“I always thought that we overestimated the impact of the debates”, Kasich said.
But we all have known since childhood that you don’t make big decisions out of anger. But it seems she’s having trouble earning the public’s trust.
Flint is under a state of emergency because the water supply is contaminated with lead from old pipes.
Kasich later called losing that union fight a wake-up call, and political observers saw his politics soften after the defeat.
If John Kasich could plant one question for the moderators to ask the candidates at the next debate it would be, “Why are you spending your time being negative instead of discussing your ideas or explaining what you are going to do?” It is hard to see both of them moving on to SC if they finish behind Bush and Rubio on Tuesday.
Jeb Bush, wearing a suburban-dad sweater and pacing awkwardly, punched the air as he drove home his point in Hanover, N.H., last week. “Because I’m my own man”.
Rafael soon returned to his family and raised Cruz as a devout Christian.
By most accounts, he nearly chose to endorse Kasich before settling on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
“The Globe urges them to support John Kasich, whose record as governor of OH shows him to be a pragmatic, fiscally responsible executive, but one who is also concerned with helping the poor”.
But billionaire Donald Trump’s second-place finish in Iowa this week exposed vulnerabilities in the front-runner’s campaign strategy, potentially giving Kasich and other candidates a fresh opening.
A Trump win in Iowa, which held its first-in-the-nation caucuses last week, would have had similar implications for the Hawkeye State.
Every four years when presidential candidates storm New Hampshire, they tell voters how much love they have for the Granite State.
“But I still believe that you get a better look at all of the candidates because of the process that we represent, that we offer here in New Hampshire”, he said. Then he switched gears and talked about how many Democrats he won over in his 2014 re-election.
Kasich’s new claim that OH is “one of the fastest growing states” in job creation has escaped notice so far of the national news media.
She continued: “And I understand…”
She says that in 2016, people are concerned that the economy and the government “aren’t working for them…and that’s causing a lot of the anger and frustration”.
Don’t like the Pacific Rim trade deal that President Barack Obama supports? “It’s fine”, Trump says of waterboarding. Each registered voter votes in his or her party’s respective primaries. “One of them is too hot, the other is too cold”.
“If I get smoked here”, Kasich said in Newmarket, “I’m going (back) to OH”. “We have warned the village to tell everybody that there was a risk. You are the Terminator”.
Is New Hampshire a winner-take-all state?
As he launched his New Hampshire door-to-door campaign on Saturday, Ohio Governor John Kasich said something surprising.
Clinton has pointed to the crisis of lead-poisoned water in Flint as an example of racial and economic injustice.
It would be the only substantive discussion of national security issues in Kasich’s speech.
And he outlined plans to address health care, education and immigration.
