US says Syrians killed by Russian airstrike
The foreign ministry wrote a letter to the UN Security Council and secretary general, in which they said, “The Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns this flagrant aggression by the us led coalition forces, which blatantly violates the objectives of the UN charter”. The government refers to all those fighting to overthrow President Bashar Assad as “terrorists”.
He said the coalition’s only strikes in Deir Ezzor on Sunday were some 55 kilometres southeast of the area where the troops were allegedly killed, near the town of Ayyash. “So we see no evidence”, Colonel Steve Warren told AFP.
A spokesman for US Central Command said the military was investigating the allegations.
The blame for an air strike that reportedly killed three Syrian regime soldiers has been laid on both the United States and Russian Federation, underscoring the increasingly tangled conflict taking place across Iraq and Syria.
There has been response to that assertion from either Syria or Russian Federation as yet.
It said four coalition warplanes struck a Syrian army post with nine rockets late Sunday, killing three soldiers and injuring 13. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to discuss the issue publicly. Russian officials were not immediately available for comment.
Syria’s Foreign Ministry called the alleged attack on the Syrian army post an act of “heinous aggression”. While the United States and its allies remain opposed to President Assad, they have stopped short of using military force against his interests.

However, member of the opposition Syrian National Coalition, Samir al-Nashar, said the conference had been postponed to Wednesday for further preparations. According to the Observatory, in Syria’s overcrowded skies, the aircraft behind the incident in Deir el-Zour are “believed” to belong to the anti-IS coalition targeted. Several strong explosions were heard, it said.
The Syrian government has only a limited presence in Deir al-Zor province, which is mainly controlled by Islamic State. The coalition has been targeting IS militants in Syria since September 2014, and does not co-ordinate its raids with the authorities in Damascus.
The coalition has rarely acknowledged civilian deaths in its campaign in Iraq and Syria against IS. Syrian troops backed by the Russian bombings have captured areas from IS in recent weeks.
In Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he could not confirm the information provided by the Syrian government.
