US Sen. Tester to support Iran nuclear deal
If he announces he is a “no” as predicted, he will join New York Sen.
Congress has 60 days to review the Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
“There are going to be some Democrats who end up opposing this deal, partly because the affinity that we all feel towards the state of Israel is profound, it’s deep”, Mr. Obama said in an interview with Mic.com.
The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, on Friday said officials are seeking details about the reported trip.
If they were to shelve the deal – and override an expected presidential veto – they could severely complicate the Obama administration’s ability to honor its commitments to roll back economic sanctions on Iran. “We need a better deal”. But the U.S. currency’s position has been largely immune – mostly for lack of any good alternative.
IF YOU OPPOSE the Iranian nuclear agreement, you are increasing the chances of war.
While the White House initially strived to persuade Congress and the public to support the deal on its merits, the summary rejection of the accord by congressional Republicans – in many instances before it was even finalized – forced Obama to resort to hardball political tactics to ensure the deal survives, Samore said.
Several economists rejected Kerry’s claim about the standing of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, at least in the short term, with one describing the reasoning as “laughable”.
The former generals and admirals say in their letter that the nuclear deal wasnot based on trust in Iran but imposed tough standards and verification and sanctions for failure to comply.
The vote on the deal is a month away, and Schumer appears to be living up to his promise not to lobby fellow Democrats, although that hasn’t removed the possibility of his explaining his opposition.
Asked by a reporter if that is realistic, Schumer said it was.
“I’m not accusing anyone of willfully choosing that or being a warmonger, or suggesting that they want that, even though you’ve heard some pretty flashy language in some hearings about who wins war and what happens”, he said.
“After deep study, careful thought and considerable soul-searching, I have decided I must oppose the agreement and will vote yes on a motion of disapproval“, Mr. Schumer said in a statement.
“He doesn’t tell us how to vote but he lays out concerns for the future about what the world could look like”, said McCarthy, head of the 36-member delegation, mostly freshmen, said of Wednesday meeting with the Israeli premier. “That is why I believe the JCPOA is in the best interest of the United States, Israel, and the world and will support it when it comes before the Congress for a vote”.
