USA kills senior Khorasan Group leader – azfamily.com 3TV | Phoenix Breaking
A longtime al Qaeda operative and key figure in the so-called Khorasan Group, Muhsin al-Fadhli, was killed in a USA air strike while traveling in a vehicle in northwestern Syria two weeks ago, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.
A statement by US Navy Capt Jeff Davis said al-Fadhli was one of the few al-Qaeda leaders to have known in advance of the 9/11 attacks.

The militants moved to Syria after the civil war erupted there and were believed to be aiding al Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate, the Nusra Front.
He was reported to have been previously targeted in a United States air strike in September, but his death was not confirmed by United States officials at the time.
Fadhli was listed on the State Department’s Rewards for Justice program which offered up to $7 million for information leading to his location.
The Khorasan was targeted last September when the U.S.-led coalition launched the initial airstrikes in Syria.
The Khorasan group remains a threat, American officials said.
The UN Security Council’s Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee cited him in 2005 for his role in planning, facilitating and financing Al-Qaeda attacks, which triggered a freeze on his assets and a travel ban.
Al-Fadhli was also involved in terrorist attacks that took place in October 2002, including against U.S. Marines on Faylaka Island in Kuwait and on the French ship MV Limburg.
