USC Athletic Director Pat Haden Has Medical Episode on Campus
Haden announced last Friday that he will retire as the school’s athletic director at the end of June, staying on with the school through 2017 in an advisory role to help with the Coliseum renovations.
Haden has lingering health issues, most notably his recent collapse on the football field in South Bend before USC faced off against Notre Dame last October.
A USC spokesperson confirmed that Haden received medical attention, but indicated that the AD was “alert and talking”. Sports information director Tim Tessalone says Wednesday’s episode is similar to one that the 63-year-old Haden suffered last October before a game against Notre Dame that briefly sent Haden to the hospital.
Medical personnel were called and they arrived and attended to Haden, who walked upstairs to his office, Tessalone said.
Ealier this week it was reported that Haden will be stepping down in June.
“I haven’t been 100 percent, but I feel perfectly fine now, ” Haden said in an interview with 710-AM radio last Friday. “My father died at a young age but I’m hoping to live a long, healthy life from here and spend time with my seven grandsons”. Haden, a former USC quarterback, had been serving on the university’s Board of Trustees since 1991.
“I am not going to (USC)”, Jurich told TV station WLKY.
Jurich has been at the center of recent controversy. Louisville’s post-season ban and scandal related to men’s basketball is a small blip on Ramsey’s radar.
