Va Tech student: ‘Truth will set me free’ in girl’s murder
Eisenhauer, 18, is charged with kidnapping and murdering Nicole, whose body was found by police Saturday just across the state line in Surry County, North Carolina.
Eisenhauerr, 18, is charged with first-degree murder.
The 13-year-old girl, identified as Nicole Madison Lovell, disappeared from her home in Blacksburg, Virginia, on January 27.
There was a massive search – made more urgent by the fact that she was a liver transplant recipient who required daily medication.
Another Virginia Tech freshman, David Eisenhauer, has been charged with first-degree murder and abduction in the death of Nicole Madison Lovell.
Another engineering student, Keepers, also was arrested over the weekend and is charged with improper disposal of a body and accessory after the fact in the commission of a felony.
Blacksburg police said Sunday that Keepers “helped Eisenhauer dispose of Nicole’s body”.
Police believe Eisenhauer and Lovell knew each other but their exact relationship is unclear.
Eisenhauer appeared briefly in court, out of sight of reporters, ahead of the scheduled 10 a.m. hearing.
Keepers also appeared, handcuffed and shackled in an orange jumpsuit. She told Judge Robert Viar (VY’-ur) Jr. that she understood the charges against her and had retained counsel, attorney Kris Olin. HLN was unable to reach their attorneys for a comment as of Monday afternoon.
Last year, Eisenhauer was featured as “Athlete of the Week” on a TV station in his home town of Columbia, Maryland. Neither had prior criminal records, police said. The college cross country runner graduated in 2015 from Wilde Lake High School in Columbia.
Eisenhauer, named Boys Indoor Track Performer of the Year by The Baltimore Sun last March, chose Virginia Tech to pursue engineering while competing with the Hokies’ top college runners, LeMon said. The same day, she posted another that said, “I’m taken”.
Lovell went missing on Wednesday night after pushing a dresser against her bedroom door and climbing out of the window of the apartment she shared with her family, according to CNN.
Eisenhauer was arrested Saturday, hours before Nicole’s remains were found in Surry County, North Carolina, a two-hour drive from campus.
Blacksburg Police Chief Anthony Wilson commented on the case’s progress and the timeline moving forward in a press release Saturday.
Nicole was 5 years old when she survived a liver transplant, MRSA (a drug-resistant bacterial infection) and lymphoma, her mother told The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/201JsDS).

A school official says additional counselors were brought in to help students grieving over the death of a middle school classmate in Virginia.
The school said in a statement Saturday that he has been suspended from the university.
Little did the volunteer drone operators know that two students from their own engineering department were allegedly involved in her murder. “She was an angel here on Earth, and she’s an angel now”, Draper said Sunday.
A number listed for Eisenhauer’s parents rang busy.
