Vaio Phone Biz With 5.5-inch Display, Windows 10 Mobile Launched
Thanks to Windows 10, the Phone Biz comes with features like Cortana and Windows Continuum. Even the most bewitching Lumia phones relied on plastic for most of their construction, so whichever you prefer, the VAIO Phone Biz is a pretty novel proposition for Windows phone shoppers.
The Japanese firm’s Windows handset, dubbed the Phone Biz, is unarguably the best-looking Windows 10 Mobile device yet. The Phone Biz has a 5.5-inch 1080p LCD display, a Snapdragon 617 CPU, 3GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera.
On the downside, the phone sports a bottom bezel that is larger than usual.
With no USB-C or fingerprint sensor, it’s not exactly a high-spec hero, but the silver aluminium case is something you won’t find on any of Microsoft’s phones. The smartphone supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and other standard connectivity features. A couple of years ago, Windows Phone tried to make a powerful impression with vibrant colors, sharp contours and unusual palettes. This means, with the right adapter, the phone can be plugged into a monitor and used as a full PC. Launching in Japan at a cost of ¥50,000, which is about $400, there’s no word on if or when it will become available further afield.
We must admit that Vaio takes a strong leap of faith with its latest smartphone. As most OEMs tend to favor Android builds, Microsoft is having a hard time finding partners who want to implement its ecosystem into their phones. In fact we shouldn’t really be so surprised, especially since last October it was hinted that VAIO had a Windows 10 Mobile device in the works.
