Val Kilmer Joins Top Gun 2 Cast
Back in July Tom Cruise spoke about the prospect of revisiting Top Gun, saying “It would be fun”.
Earlier this year, Cruise said he would be keen to reprise his role, provided there is “no CGI on the jets”, and Skydance CEO David Ellison confirmed that a sequel – with a plot described as “Tom Cruise versus drones” – is in development. Check out the actor’s status update below.

Kilmer and Cruise co-starred in the original 1986 film, as aviators LT Tom “Iceman” Kazanski and LT Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
In the edited version, he clarified that if he was offered a chance to work with Hackman or Coppola, he would also agree without needing to read a script, but noted they would not be involved in Top Gun 2. But it seems that the wheels are now in motion, at least according to Val Kilmer.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously outlined that the film will deal with the rise of unmanned drones and pilots becoming a thing of the past.
Rolling Stone reported Kilmer’s co-star Tom Cruise had not publicly accepted a role in the sequel. “They’re here to stay”, Bruckheimer said.
