Valcke dismissed by FIFA
Federation Internationale de Football Association first suspended Valcke on September 17, when ethics committee investigators began probing the ticketing scheme.
Jerome Valcke, once FIFA’s all-powerful secretary general.
The Frenchman is facing a nine-year ban after an ethics investigation considered several alleged offences, including being connected to the black-market sales of World Cup tickets.
Both were found guilty of breaches surrounding a £1.3million ($2million) “disloyal payment” made to Platini in 2011, and they have been fined 50,000 and 80,000 Swiss francs respectively.
Temporary suspended FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke has been dismissed from his post, a statement from FIFA announced on Wednesday.
He is the fifth FIFA official extradited by Switzerland to the United States in connection with the multi-million-dollar corruption scandal that has rocked world football since May previous year.
Sepp Blatter (left) and Michel Platini are banned from all football activities for 8 years.
Valcke is no stranger to controversy having also been sacked in 2006 for his part in botched sponsorship negotiations with credit card firms MasterCard Inc and Visa Inc. Kattner has not been accused of wrongdoing in any cases and is leading preparations from FIFA’s side for the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation.
The FIFA ethics case is ongoing.
Federation Internationale de Football Association says its emergency committee fired Valcke with immediate effect and terminated his contract.
Sepp Blatter rehired him eight months later.
“There was no evidence of any corrupt conduct and the FIFA Adjudicatory Chamber got it right in that regard”, said Blatter’s USA lawyer Richard Cullen.
