Valerie Letourneau Talks About How Far Women’s Fighting Has Come

Official Decision: Joanna Jedrezjczyk defeats Valerie Letourneau by unanimous decision.

After a December 2007 loss to fellow Canadian Alexis Davis, she fought just once in 40 months due to a broken hand, concussion and two shoulder surgeries. “I’m trying to just to be me all the time”.

Letourneau’s second appearance in the Octagon was even better than her first, and propelled her into a sneaky good fight against Maryna Moroz in Saskatoon in August. She became an under-the-radar contender in the UFC’s newest division.

Letourneau and daughter Gabrielle headed south two years ago to train at American Top Team in Florida. It was the biggest win of the middleweight enigma’s career and that momentum will certainly go a long way in helping him battle whatever inner-demons have stopped him from greatness in the UFC. I just think that’s pretty cute and amusing.

Jedrzejczyk eventually worked back to her feet though, and that would prove to be the only time Letourneau would take her down. Hall is best in space with room to launch his kicks, but Whittaker won’t afford him those opportunities. Letourneau catches it and takes the fight to the ground. I understand it’s not our place as spectators to tell him to pack it in, but I wish he would for his own good.

Rosholt might not be the most exciting heavyweight on the UFC roster right no, but he’s a very solid wrestler and gritty. Before MMA, I used to fight in BJJ, but I barely made money to survive. “But he’s gonna be in the crowd and he knows how much I care and how grateful for how much he’s been helping me”.
