Valley Rep. Ryan renews criticism of Pelosi and her leadership team
Every time a Democrat suggests the president should be impeached, Republican voters rally to the President. “And that is not acceptable for a majority of voters in this country”.
As Democrats have lost a series of special House elections in red districts, some Democrats have anxious that their opportunity to capitalize on President Donald Trump’s historic unpopularity could be squandered by Republicans’ successful ability to link any Democratic candidate with Pelosi.
In last week’s special election in Georgia, the GOP repeatedly tied Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff to Pelosi, with Republican Karen Handel emerging victorious.
Before we proceed, let’s just note that Americans should appreciate Pelosi’s long service to the United States. Pelosi doesn’t fare conspicuously worse than other congressional leaders, including House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). It’s a top-dollar affair, with a $100,000 price tag for the host committee and a $35,000-per-person dinner.
Since then, the Republicans are undefeated in four special elections, having beaten the Democrats in Kansas, South Carolina, Montana and Georgia, but it’s the Democrats who are getting exhausted of it-and exhausted of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. “She’s even worse than Hillary Clinton”, he said.
Again, no one is going to resign his or her leadership position.
Anzalone’s breakdown shows that Democrats turned out to vote in impressive numbers. This time, they are grieving two losses in Republican congressional districts in Georgia and SC that were potentially winnable. Regrettably, the reason faithful Democrats (and millions of others) will never be able to forget that epic moment of Obama leadership is that, unfortunately, it never happened. Historically, Democrats and their “Resistance” base should be primed for a big comeback, their string of special election losses notwithstanding. She scores a plurality among African-American voters, but only 40/23, while Hispanic voters lean toward her ouster 39/36. Such is the power of negative advertising in politics. But in the 2016 election, the Democrat lost by a massive 24.6 percent.
Dent, of Allentown, told MSNBC anchor Peter Alexander that he thinks Congressional Republicans needs to avoid the mistakes Democrats made when they passed the Affordable Care Act in 2010.
Democratic National Committee Chairman Thomas Perez caused an uproar with pro-life Democrats when he released a statement in April stating that the Democratic Party’s commitment to “choice” is non-negotiable. There is also a growing chasm between the centrist wing and the more liberal Sanders/Warren wing.
On trade and industry, people like Rep. Marcy Kaptur and Representative Ryan might lead the party back to meat-and-potatoes Democratic values. Yet, Kansas Democrat James Thompson and Montana’s Rob Quist lost by only six points apiece with only a slight fraction of the national Democratic support that Ossoff received. With more and more evidence the president did not collaborate with Russians to steal the election, Democrats are more and more convinced he did. “I honestly don’t know”, he said, dropping the subject. If they want to inspire people, they need to offer ideas. Then there is the fact that Pelosi – whether by design or helpful accident – is surrounded by a current crop of leaders that are just as old as she is.
“If you want my support (on repealing Obamacare). you better make sure that the Republican governors that have expanded Medicaid sign off on it”, Heller said.
