Van Gaal gives update on injured players
Louis van Gaal’s side were beaten 2-1 at Bournemouth on Saturday evening after crashing out of the Champions League following defeat in Wolfsburg earlier in the week.
United’s 3-2 defeat to Wolfsburg saw them fail to progress beyond the group stage for only the second time in a decade, and the Red Devils are fourth in the Premier League at the start of Saturday’s play.
Van Gaal’s side automatically entered into the Europa League, a competition which the Dutchman feels is a must win.
Ex-Manchester United player Robbie Savage says that Louis van Gaal should be sacked if he fails to lead the club to the Premier League title this season.
He added, “Of course I am concerned because we have lost two matches in a row and that is not a usual thing”.
“I thought we played rather well in the first half, we created chances and scored a goal. I spent five years there (at Old Trafford)”, King said. Manchester City are now on top of the table thanks to a deflected goal, but possibly only for a day or two – Arsenal play on Sunday, while Leicester play on Monday. If we finished the chances in the first half the game was finished.
“And I have seen also how the bench was participating in the match, so we all wanted to win. My board, I think, have also done everything”, he added. And you have to win, because otherwise it is always more hard.
“We have to put the heads up again and believe in ourselves because that is also very important”.
The England worldwide, who captained the side in the absence of Wayne Rooney, says those injuries are no excuse and that the players are very disappointed about the last week.
Saying Friday that United will have to get used to losing its status as a European heavyweight will hardly have endeared Van Gaal to the club’s increasingly disillusioned fans. But only previous year I was good enough to get Holland to third place at the World Cup. They had a few variations and did it very well but still it can not be. We have left ourselves short again, the set-pieces have killed us.
“You can see that as a positive”. I said that to the players because I liked the attitude. But I want to manage the expectation.
Yaya Toure’s shot in the second minute of injury time struck young substitute Kelechi Iheanacho and looped into the net as City escaped with a win from an unconvincing display against Swansea at Etihad Stadium. The facts are saying that we are better than past year, so that’s my answer because I can only give facts.
