Van Gaal raves over Man United’s attack
“That is why I am happy we scored the two lovely goals”.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said an anger within the dressing room was the catalyst for the team’s first win in nine games.
“He does everything we expect from him as a captain, but also as a player and in what position he plays”.
Gylfi Sigurdsson levelled for Swansea, but Wayne Rooney’s instinctive flick 13 minutes from time proved decisive.
Van Gaal, who lined his team up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, was hoping for a change in fortunes at the start of the new year, but for the most part, his team served up another boring display.
As well as creating the winning goal, Martial headed in the game’s opening goal two minutes into the second half and Ashley Young, who set him up, also stood out.
Just when it looked like United’s winless streak would stretch to another game, Rooney popped up in the middle, meeting Martial’s cross and slotted the ball home with a wonderfully executed backheel-his left leg perched behind his right, which was rooted to the ground.
“That’s the reason – it’s not that we want to play risky football”.
The Dutchman was frustrated with Swansea’s tactics throughout the game, and criticised them after the match.
Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has praised on Wayne Rooney for his wonderful performance to claim a 2-1 win over Swansea City in their Premier League clash.
“I just think that battering from centre-backs and the pressure that is on him, mentally as well, to play from that age of 16”.
This season has been disappointing for Manchester United as they are not performing as they are expected.
Predictability, if United had lost or draw to manager-less Swansea City, Louis van Gaal and most of the coaching staffs would have looking for another job.
“Now we are playing much more matches but still it is an achievement, said Van Gaal as he reflected on Rooney’s place in the club’s history”.
“That’s a season. A season takes eight months or something like that and not one month”, he added, referring to the poor run of form in December that preceded this result. Against Chelsea we played with a lot of space behind us and also today.
Since then he has shone in consecutive home matches against Chelsea and Swansea, offering hope to fans that his best days may not yet be fully behind him.
