Van Gaal tight-lipped on Felipe Anderson rumours
According to Goal Brasil, Manchester United’s £35m deal for Lazio winger Felipe Anderson is being held up by a negotiation over bonuses owed to the Brazilian should he leave.
Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has revealed that the club rejected a big money bid from Manchester United for Felipe Anderson last summer, lifting the lid on the Red Devils’ interest in the player.
Felipe Anderson is a name that has been said a ludicrous amount of times over the past few weeks in the Transfer Tavern, with the 22-year-old being brought up in conversation literally every single day.
“We have not received any offer from Manchester United this month, but we refused an offer from them on August 27 worth €50 million”, Tare told Sport Mediaset. “I am concentrated only on my work and doing well here”.
Anderson came off the bench to strike late in the shock victory at title-chasing Fiorentina before telling Sky in Italy he is unsure if he will remain at the Stadio Olimpico beyond the January transfer window.
“I don’t know what will happen”. “We believe in him and we think that his value is much more than that”.
“Lazio resisted offers in excess of €100m in the summer”.
But Tare suggested Lazio are happy to keep him and cash in at the end of the season, although that could prove a risky bet given Anderson’s recent spell of mediocrity.
When asked about the Anderson bid rumours, Van Gaal said: “I can not discuss that with you”.
