Van Gaal told by Man U he’s underachieved after spending big
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is taking training at Carrington as his future at the club remains uncertain. It would be utterly freaky of Woodward to try and convince van Gaal not to resign once, to do it twice would be madness, to do it three times would be nothing short of lunacy.
FC’s Paul Mariner says the only reason Louis van Gaal is still manager at Man United is due to his reputation.
Once again, Jose Mourinho is being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the decorated tactician letting it be known that he is keen to make a swift return to the game following his sacking from Chelsea last month.
Gill told the BBC that the boos aimed at Van Gaal and his team as they left the field on Saturday were the worst he has seen.
LONDON The fans booing has become louder at Manchester United as the teams performances have become duller.
Manchester United’s manager Louis van Gaal takes to the touchline before his team’s English Premier League soccer match between Manchester United and Southampton at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester, England, Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016.
The Red Devils now lie at fifth in the Premier League standings, 10 points behind leaders Leicester City.
When asked about the jeering he received at the final whistle, Van Gaal added: “I agree with them, so it doesn’t have any impact (on me)”. Van Gaal was more forgiving of the fans reaction: They are right (to boo). The club have spent close to £250m since Van Gaal arrived in the summer of 2014 and, although they qualified for the Champions League this season, they were knocked out in the group stages itself.
The Dutchman said the crowd was right to turn on him, yet still the big bosses are continuing to put up with his nonsense. And we want to fight for this trophy. According to the Daily Mirror’s football writer, senior players – including Ashley Young and even Marouane Fellaini – are feeling “alienated” by the manager.
So who could step into the Manchester United hot seat if in fact Van Gaal is relieved of his duties?
“We started this year very well but this is a setback”, he said. “They have – or they had – great expectations of me and I can not fulfill them”.
But after spending over £250 million on new players in his tenure, the fans can not be satisfied with how Manchester United are carrying on. We must get better results for the fans and I hope this handsome competition will provide them.
