Van Gaal wants Manchester United to improve in Europe

Manchester United came from behind to beat German bundesliga side, Wolfsburg 2-1 in their second champions league game for the season at the Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

United were somewhat unconvincing as they registered their first Group B points with the win, having to come from behind after Daniel Caligiuri’s fourth-minute strike and then, following Juan Mata’s penalty and a Chris Smalling goal, hanging on towards the end.

To ensure his players are fully recharged for Sunday’s title showdown at Arsenal, van Gaal has given his players Friday off to recover.

Mata now has an assist and goal in each of his last two games.

“We have everything in our own hands and that is very important”, van Gaal said.

Morgan Schneiderlin believes Manchester United are beginning to silence the doubters who criticised their style of play at the start of the season.

“I take all the decisions”, he said when asked by a journalist if he had discussed the matter with Rooney.

Manager Louis van Gaal was adamant United have a “realistic” chance of winning the competition, when asked earlier this week.
