One woman is dead after falling off a moving party bus in Vancouver Saturday night.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to Burrard Street at West Hastings Street crossing after receiving a report that a woman had fallen from a party bus.
Under the new guidelines, all limousine operators with perimeter seating vehicles, such as stretch SUVs and limo-buses, must have each vehicle in their fleet approved by the Passenger Transportation Board.
Police said that it appears that a group of approximately 24 people were celebrating a birthday inside the bus. The circumstances of the fall remain unclear; it is also not known whether alcohol or mechanical failure is involved.
Those changes were a step in the right direction but greatly inadequate, said Julie Raymond, whose 16-year-old daughter Shannon died at a friend’s house after taking drugs aboard a party bus in 2008.
